From the seamless solid-Cherry tabletop to the legs, base, and internal framing, every component of this Kotatsu was custom-built by hand with an emphasis on durability, precision, and natural beauty. The rich grain and warm tones of Cherry give this piece an elegant, furniture-quality presence that complements both traditional and contemporary interiors.
A traditional Kotatsu is a low Japanese table designed to provide warmth and comfort during colder months. An electric heating element is mounted beneath the tabletop, while a heavy blanket or futon is positioned between the table frame and removable tabletop. The enclosed space beneath the table traps the heat, creating a cozy and comfortable area for dining, studying, relaxing, or simply warming your feet.
